Download and Installation
Download from www.EvolutionHealthcareSystems.co.uk. Please contact us for a login to the website.
Internet Explorer users: choose “Run” instead of Save. The installation program will download and then run automatically.
Firefox Users: Choose Save File & when the download is complete locate the file bcsAuthor_setup in the Firefox download folder and double click to run the installation.
Google Chrome Users: The download progress is shown at the bottom of the screen. Once complete just click the filename bcsAuthor_setup to start the installation.
Windows XP users are likely to get an “Open File – Security Warning” window. Select “Run” to continue the installation. (Note, to avoid this warning, add www.ibidb.org to the trusted sites within Internet Explorer)
On the “Welcome to the iBCS Author Setup Wizard” window, click “Next”.
On the “Ready to Install” window, click “Install” to complete the installation.
When the installation has completed, you will see the “Completing the iBCS Author Setup Wizard” window. Untick the box on this page if you do not want to start using iBCS Author straight away. Click “Finish” to dismiss this window.
Starting IBCS Author
Double click the iBCS Author icon on the desktop (or from the Start Menu under iBCS Author).
Sign in using your ibidb.org website credentials – the same as above.
Click on the “Standards” tab to review the complete set of Burn Care Standards. The “draft” version of the standards is the one that is available for commenting.
Making Comments
You can comment on any Standard in the current “draft” version of the standards. Access to previous and current standards is provided for convenient reference.
In addition you may also make a comment on an existing comment. Comments will only be visible from previous “rounds” of reviewing. Reviewing rounds are closed at a pre-agreed date by the system administrator.
Start iBCS Author and sign on using your www.ibidb.org user credentials.
Go to the Standards page.
Use the Standards tree on the left hand side to navigate to the question on which you wish to comment:
- Use the plus sign buttons to the left of the items’ text to reveal sub-items.
- Select the standard by clicking on the items’ text to display it’s contents in the main window on the right.
- Click on the “Comment…” link at the top of the display, and a new window opens.
- The fields in the yellow area are available for editing. You may make amendments to the actual texts; make comments; or alter the priority and designation values.
- Click OK to save and close the window.
Making Suggestions
You can suggest a new Standard within any Topic within the current “draft” version of the standards. Access to previous and current standards is * provided for convenient reference.
Before suggesting a new Standard be sure to check that the Standard (or a very similar one) does not already exist. Note, that a similar Standard may exist within a different topic.
Start iBCS Author and sign on using your www.ibidb.org user credentials.
Go to the Standards page.
Use the Standards tree on the left hand side to navigate to the topic in which you wish to make a suggestion:
Use the plus sign buttons to the left of the items’ text to reveal sub-items.
Select the topic by clicking on the topics text to display it’s contents in the main window on the right.
Click on the “Suggest Standard…” link, and a new window opens.
Complete the fields and click OK to save and close the window.
